Tetris Wouldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

As any significant honors show nears, there’s always a clamor for introducing fresh award types to acknowledge unsung work and satisfy the passions of enthusiasts who have specialized interests.

Another commentator made the case for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. The same goes for board games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist for pushing forward just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal remains most pressing and important of all. The demand is this: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and it will always generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that movie academies steer clear of genre categories. But it is a necessary evil in the world of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications actually cover numerous genres, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere to put them. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games published annually without proper recognition at major award shows, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • One classic puzzle game got overlooked for anything in 2014
  • Another creative title received no nominations in 2019
  • Popular arranging title got ignored in 2021
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent modest productions, yet the craft of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games stand as most popular titles worldwide and have been for many years.

The famous puzzle experience challenges well-known building titles claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, and engaging across multiple categories.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. One could readily select a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these represent titles without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers function at the hard edge interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait generations.
